Hi everyone - I was diagnosed with Follicular non hodgkin lymphoma, stage 3 in June 2015. I was 46 years old at the time.. and was told that it was unusual to get this cancer.. as it typically affects men above 60. I had found a lump on my left groin area.. and had been feeling tired.. a biopsy and blood tests showed that it was lymphoma. Full body MRI/CT scans showed that I had lymphoma mostly around my pelvic area, groin areas.
I underwent 3 months of R-CHOP treatment which began in mid July and finished in October. Overall I responded well to the treatment.. felt a bit sick after first chemo.. but nothing too bad. By the end of the chemo treatment, scans had shown that my lymph nodes had almost shrunk back to normal..
Then - after October 2015 I have been having 2 years worth of rituximab injections.. bi-monthly injections that is. This finished a couple of months ago.. I had another scan which showed 'no sign of lymphoma'. However - I am still reminded that it will 'most likely return' within next few years. I now see my consultant every few months for a check...
I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has/has had the same diagnosis. I am wondering how long before the cancer returns.. how long you are in remission for.. Also for anyone that has recently been diagnosed, then I am happy to answer any questions.. share my experiences etc.
